AProf Amitava Datta
  BSc Calcutta, MSc IIT Kanpur, MTech, Ph.D. IIT Madras  Associate Professor
Amitava received the MTech(1988) and PhD(1992) degrees in computer science from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras. He did his postdoctoral research at the Max Planck Institute for Computer Science, University of Freiburg and University of Hagen, all in Germany. He joined the University of New England, Australia, in 1995 and, subsequently, the Department of Computer Science & Software Engineering at the University of Western Australia in 1998. In 2001, he was a visiting professor at the Computer Science Institute, University of Freiburg, Germany, supported by a fellowship from DAAD. His research interests are in parallel processing, reconfigurable computing, optical computing computer graphics and multimedia systems. He was a member of the program committee for the 15th International Parallel and Distributed Processing Symposium (IPDPS) in 2001. He is a member of the IEEE Computer Society and the ACM.
